TURQUOISE BLUE (FĪRUZEHʿĪ)
Shade of blue colour is advised in Majmu’at al-sanaye (1005 A.H. /1596 A.D) similar to turqoise (firuzeh) stone blue shade by adding white ceruse to indigo. The recipe reads as follows:
رنگ فیروزه قدری سفیده با رنگک گل نیله بمالند و کاغذ در آن بکنن
To create a turquoise (firuzeh) color, mix white ceruse with the extract of the blue indigo plant and use it to dye paper.
Experiment:
Start by preparing an indigo dye bath. Mix a small amount of white ceruse in plain water to create a smooth solution of white ceruse. Add the white ceruse drop by drop to the indigo dyebath to achieve the desired blue turquoise shade of color. Place the paper in the dyebath for some time until you achieve the desired blue turquoise shade of colored paper. Remove the paper and let it dry in the shade.
